We’re excited to announce a casting opportunity for the short film The First Save, inspired by the true story of the first Black paramedics in America. The film will be shot in Cleveland, OH, from October 10–13, 2025, and will bring to life a powerful story about courage, legacy, and community.
The Role: Ethan Carter
Ethan is an 8 to 10-year-old Black boy who appears in the film’s present-day scenes. He’s curious, spirited, and proud of his father’s history as a Freedom House paramedic. The role is heartfelt and moving, as Ethan connects with his father through the stories of his past.
This is a paid, non-union role. No acting experience is required — we’re looking for authenticity, personality, and a willingness to learn.
About The First Save
The film follows Alexander Carter, a former Freedom House paramedic, as he reflects on one of his earliest life-saving moments. Through flashbacks and present-day scenes, The First Save honors a largely forgotten chapter in Black history and showcases the bravery of those who served their communities in a time of crisis.
